Interesting quote from a recent article in WSJ https://lnkd.in/dymW75N (WSJ paywall) about the strong volume growth and stock performance of fixed income electronic trading venues Tradeweb & MarketAxess

MarketAxess chief executive, Rick McVey, said at an industry conference in June that Asia is “a very, very large market at very low levels of electronification but showing very positive signs right now.”

No doubt there has been a recent increase in focus on fixed income data utilisation, etrading and fixed income technology in Asia. A good example is the rapid growth of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) Bondconnect for electronically accessing Chinese bond liquidity from abroad via Tradeweb for the last two years (and now also recently via Bloomberg LP), but many other initiatives are underway that will help address the regions fragmented fixed income liquidity.
